Sweat Equity

at first it was for fun,  once i finally got over my fear of grass being too pointy.

I’d wake up and feel the need to

Sometime during my adolecence it faded away,  traded for the finer things like composing songs and comprising bands of artisans.

I’d wake up and feel the need to

These days its out of basic necessity

I wake up and feel the need to

I hope for a day when it turns a tide,   or causes a glide

because all this trying is getting old

i used to hope to wake up to it one day,  to open my eyes and find 15 missed messages all offering tangible enhancements to my life.

I’d wake up and feel the need to

I’m not AT my dream yet,  rarely anyone is,  but i’m a lot closer than i was a year ago and a year before that and even the year before that

i wake up with the need to

I’m in the pits of not quite happy but not yet sad,  in a rut so many know so well.

i’m gonna take a nap,  thats what normal people do,  right?
